Cherry fruit notes, toasty oak, a light smoke and herb. Complementing flavors of Bing cherry, light chocolate, rustic cherry pit tannins and a nice mid palate. Great balance from start to finish. Pair with pizza or a pasta marinera.

2015 was the warmest vintage in Washington State. Each season trended on the hot side and when it was all said and done, we were setting all kinds of records. The spring was warm and mixed with a little rain set the crop up great for the season. The summer started hot and just kept on getting hotter. We were prepared for this since the 2 previous vintages were warm, but it still pushed things along quickly. Some white grapes were picked in early August and our reds started in early September. This vintage is showing a lot of big fruit characteristics.
Sangiovese is one of my favorite varietals. The grapes were picked a little early because of the hot season but had great flavor and balance. The fermentation was done in small 1 ton lots. After aging I blended some Cabernet to round out the blend. This is a wonderful expression of what Sangiovese can taste like from the Coyote Canyon Vineyard.
