50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cab Franc, 25% Merlot Red cherry notes, light cola, toasty oak. Medium bodied with a nice smooth finish. This wine is ready to drink now or over the next five years.
The start of 2020 was wet for Eastern Washington standards. Winter had average snow fall and the spring had enough rain to get growth off to a good start. The summer was long and hot with near perfect growing conditions. We started harvest in early September and continued until late October. The grapes for this blend were mostly picked in late October, that is when our Cabernets have the most flavor.
This is one of the best Downtown Red blends I have made. We weren’t sure if we would make this blend but the wine was available and needed to be bottled. These wines were aged an extra 10 months in barrel which softened the tannins a little more helping give the finish a smooth feeling.
