The start of 2020 was wet for Eastern WA standards. Winter had average snow fall and the spring had enough rain to get growth off to a good start. The summer was long and hot with near perfect growing conditions. We started harvest in early September and continued until late October. Our Albariño grapes were picked in early September and have plenty of tropical notes and citrus flavors.
We machined harvested these grapes with our amazing Pelanc Harvester and delivered them to the winery for fermentation. We split the pick into two bins and used different yeasts on each lot. The two ferments were pressed off together and aged in French and American oak barrels. The result is a mix of lively fruit characteristics and some great toasty barrel notes.
