Dark purplish color with aromas of dark plum, blackberry, some toasted oak, and spice. The flavors are rich and bold, lots of dark Cherry, chocolate, and herbaceous notes with a little cracked pepper on the finish. Drink now-2035.
2021 was a very interesting growing season. The winter was normal and spring started off nice and smooth. Temperatures slowly warmed and the grapes went through set and bloom right on time. In late June we had a heatwave that impacted the rest of the vintage. We hit a high of 118 degrees and had over 45 days of triple digit weather. The grapes stayed small and the crop load was smaller but loaded with intense flavors. We started picking in early September and finished at the end of October.
Our Bozak Red wine is all about blending Bordeaux varietals to come up with a complex and enjoyable wine. Each varietal is fermented and aged separately. This blend can handle a lot of oak and is usually about 50% new and 50% used oak. As I make our single varietals I’m always keeping in mind what barrels might blend best together to make this wine. It is a style that gets better with age.
