A combination of classic citrus notes mingle with stone fruits, some light mango and cut grass. The flavors are bright and refreshing. Perfect for seafood, cheese, or just warm sunny days.
2022 was another epic vintage in WA state. One of the wettest springs on record had early shoot growth booming. A funny thing happened at that point, it stayed cool. The cooler weather pushed back bud break and flowering, eventually pushing harvest back one to three weeks. The heat finally started to show up at the end of June, maybe even too much heat, when it is over 100 degrees the grapes start to shut down. We started picking in mid September and finished at the end of October. The compressed harvest had some challenges but in the end we are enthusiastic about what is to come.
Sauvignon Blanc is one of the younger blocks we source from at our estate vineyards. It was planted in 2016 and the first harvest was 2019. We machine harvested the grapes in September and fermented the wine in a stainless steel tank. This is one of the few white wines we produce and bottle as 100% Sauvignon Blanc. I’m enjoying making this wine and look forward to seeing how the vines change as they get older.
