The initial aromas are a combination of toasty oak, nice floral tones, and some mild fruit notes. The flavors are green apple, some melon, a touch of spice and a nice tannin note that carries throughout the wine.

2022 was another epic vintage in WA state. One of the wettest springs on record had early shoot growth booming. A funny thing happened at that point, it stayed cool. The cooler weather pushed back bud break and flowering, eventually pushing harvest back one to three weeks. The heat finally started to show up at the end of June, maybe even too much heat, when it is over 100 degrees the grapes start to shut down. We started picking in mid September and finished at the end of October. The compressed harvest had some challenges but in the end we are enthusiastic about what is to come.
We machined harvested our Viognier near the end of September and fermented it in stainless steel. As fermentation got started I decided to transfer a portion of the wine into two new French Oak barrels. We have been focusing on fruit forward wines but this year I wanted to change things up. I only kept the wine in barrel for two weeks before combining it back with the tank. The wine was then aged for a few months prior to filtering and bottling in February.
