Light golden straw color with aromas of stone fruit, lemon, and a light flora component. The flavors begin with light citrus fruit notes. Followed by bubbles that tingle your palate before a creamy and bright finish.
2023 was a unique vintage. We started the season late as a cool spring led to delayed bud break and flowering. The early season was several weeks behind and it looked like it might be a challenging vintage. Lucky for us the summer quickly warmed up and provided us with our second warmest season on record. The steady heat allowed us to catch up and start harvest in early September. The white wines had great flavors, ample acidity and perfect ripeness.
I love making our Sparkling Albarino, we pick the grapes about two weeks earlier than for our still program. We are trying to pick the grapes while they still have lots of acid and low sugar. The resulting wine is lean and crisp before it goes through the riddling process. It feels good making this in the traditional method.
