Inky dark color with a rich full body. The first notes are chocolate covered blackberries, red jam, and some nice toasty aromas. The flavors start off with sweet marionberry jelly, then a layer of toasty chocolate, finished with some spicy goodness.
Making a fortified wine is a lot different than making other styles of wine. It has been fun getting to see how the wine age and play around with blending the different vintages together. The fruit is still showing bright in our oldest barrels. The newer vintages are ripe and rich. I love blending the different vintages together. This Lot 5 is sure to be enjoyed for years to come.
